The Honor In Survival

[ Sorry, no picture here! ]

Shot through the chest
Shot through our friends
But it never shot us down.
Shoot one, then that's with the rest;
Bullet through the chest, blood within the vest—
The scars won't ever fade
But the survivor hasn't fallen today.
No matter how many inches
the wound seeped in,
no matter what matter
was destroyed within,
Recognize the strength of the gunshot survivor;
Realize how this injury made this peaceful fighter.
Today,
he stands;
Today,
he speaks;
What wasn't lost inside
Showed him the honor to survive.
